George VI & Family

George VI, shortly before he died, with his family. Queen Elizabeth, his wife and later Queen Mother is on the left in this photo with Prince Charles. Next to her is Princess Margaret, with Prince Philip at the back. Princess Elizabeth, the present Queen, is standing by the pram in which sits Princess Anne.

The flowers in the background and the clothing, together with Anne being in a pram (she was born in August 1950), suggests to me that this photo was taken in the spring of 1951.

The Red Baron

Manfred von Richthofen, better known as the Red Baron, in front of a hangar, sometime between 1916, when he joined the Jasta Boelcke, a German Luftstreitkräfte Squadron, and 1918, when he was shot down and killed.

General Tom Thumb

Charles Sherwood Stratton was given the stage name "General Tom Thumb" by his distant cousin P.T. Barnum, who taught him how to sing, dance, mime, and impersonate famous people. He became so famous that his wedding, in 1863, to Lavinia Warren, pushed the Civil War off the front pages. This photo was taken around 1848.
